Shellac nails... Again!

Okay, here is a brief update. This is my nails 3 weeks and 2 days after the redo. Abit of scratch on the polish and the polish on the tip are receding. The new growth has blatantly grown out but I feel what the amount of abused I did to my nails its not too bad. My view is I will take it off after 3 weeks. Anymore and the new nail growth will ruin the overall look.  

 

Shellac Nails - Day 12

I'm sorry to say that I have redo my nails again before the 14 days guarantee review! As you can see from the photo above I have quite an obvious regrowth and sadly the polish on my right hand middle nails had chipped and broken off. As a lot of other reviewers had mentioned (you can google it easily) it is best done on healthy nails. Nails that are weak and tend to chip and break will also have the same problem even after having the shellac polish done as its purpose are not to strengthen the nails. 

Having said that I must admit the polish still look glossy and new after 12 days, however I can see the side of the nails had some slight chipping of the polish revealing my real polish-less nails underneath, but the wear, to be honest are very minimal unless you examine the nails very thoroughly! 

I opted for another French manicure design. Initially I wanted to have it painted in one opaque colour, but since I have a wedding to attend in just over one week time and I don't fancy returning to redo my nails again, I decided French manicure can camouflage my new growth a teeny bit better. I probably do one more shellac nail polish in one month time with a completely new design/colour before reintroducing  my DIY manicure at home again as it can be quite costly in the long run.

Cost was same as last time (£25). Although the manicurist seem to have applied more coat to my nails this time round compared to last time. This manicurist seem to do a better job in term of drawing the white tip I.e the colour look more even compare to the previous time.

Let see if I can wait for another 14 days +    Before redoing my nails again!

Shellac Nails - 8 days later

Last week I had Shellac Nail Polish done. It promised it can last through 14 days without the polish being scratched or faded. This week I saw some new nail growth and the tip of the nails has been scratched a little but overall the nails still look perfect and fine.

I must confessed, I'm very lazy in terms of maintaining and pampering my nails. I did buy some nail care products in the past such as nail hardener top coat, cuticle oil and nail cream, but applying it regularly for the products to do its job is another case. It doesn't help with the fact I do not wear gloves when using washing detergents and other cleaning products! Although I do regularly apply hand cream because otherwise my hand will itch like mad from dryness! (Oops!) 

Seeing my nails cannot grow past certain stage and me wanting to have nice nails I decided to go to the nail shop to do manicure, hoping the nail polish can toughen my nails a little and to avoid me keep clipping the chipped bits off! 

I was looking through the nail shop website and saw a short video for shellac nails. It sounds promising - no filing down nails (which I hate because it thins down my natural nails) for the acrylic nails, has a high shine, makes the nails look tougher and the price is about the same as a normal manicure. So, I went in and got them done.  

According to the Creative Nail Design (cnd.com) website that introduced this polish; 

"Shellac is a breakthrough, patent-pending UV3 technology that combines the ease of polish with the permanence of gels. No other products in the market can stand up to the claim – on like polish, wears like gel, off in minutes."  

It claims that it should last for at least 14 days without chipping.  I'm hoping it can withstand my abuse longer and stretch it to one month before I redo my nails, but the "14 days" saying is only because by that time new growth would have grown so the nails look less appealing 

Here is the result of Day 1.  I quite like the finishing of the nail. It make it looked like I had acrylic nails done, just without the long length. I chose the French manicure finish as I wanted something simple that can match any accessories or outfit I wear. My only complaint is they made the white tip a little too thick meaning it made my actual nails look shorter than it should, but this can be rectify if I insisted on it to be thinned down. The lady did asked me whether I felt it was okay, and I did say "yes", so I shouldn't complain about it =p

I'm  hoping to update weekly to see whether it still look fine. If you had it done before, let me know of your view on it.
